Ascot’s Primary Years is committed to providing students with hands-on and experiential learning opportunities. We encourage our students to take ownership over their learning by being an active participant in the planning and direction of their inquiries. Through collaborative and transdisciplinary approaches to exploring authentic and relevant issues, our students develop the skills needed to become successful global citizens in a dynamic world. Our dedicated and qualified teaching team ensures that our vision, mission, values and the essential elements of the Primary Years Program (PYP) underpins all aspects of our Primary program.

The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) empowers young learners to become inquisitive thinkers, compassionate communicators, and global citizens through a dynamic and inquiry-based curriculum
Concept-based learning goes beyond facts, fostering deeper understanding and the ability to apply knowledge across subjects, empowering students to become critical thinkers and lifelong learners
The inquiry method sparks curiousity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills as students explore real-world questions, construct knowledge, and take ownership of their learning journey
Play-based learning fosters creativity, social skills, and cognitive development as children engage in hands-on, imaginative activities that ignite their natural curiosity and love for learning
The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) is a leading curriculum framework for international primary education. Designed for students aged 3 to 12, the PYP focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside.
With its rigorous, research and inquiry based curriculum, the PYP transforms schools’ teaching practices, placing teachers, students and leaders in the core of the programme. As a result, students become active, caring, lifelong learners who demonstrate respect for themselves and others and have the capacity to participate in the world around them. PYP is transdisciplinary, meaning students learn across subject areas while inquiring into big ideas.

At Ascot, the Primary Years provide a welcoming and flexible space where learning goes beyond the classroom. Every child is encouraged to explore, ask questions, and make real-world connections. We nurture curiosity, celebrate diversity, and ensure every student feels valued as they grow academically, socially, and emotionally
Our learning environment is built on responsibility, awareness, compassion, and empathy. It is a safe, inclusive space where students feel supported, engaged, and inspired to thrive. By fostering community, well-being, and a sense of belonging, we create an atmosphere where everyone can grow and contribute positively
At Ascot, the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) inspires students from Early Years to Year 6 to become active, curious, and lifelong learners. The programme focuses on inquiry-based learning, encouraging children to ask questions, explore deeply, and make real-world connections. Within a welcoming and flexible environment, every child is valued, supported, and guided to grow academically, socially, and emotionally while developing respect, empathy, and global awareness

In the Primary Years at Ascot, inquiry-based learning encourages students to ask meaningful questions, explore topics in depth, and connect their learning to real-world contexts. This approach nurtures curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning while empowering students to take ownership of their growth
The PYP is a framework for schools and their approach to learning and teaching. Students explore significant concepts through units of inquiry. The six transdisciplinary themes that guide units of inquiry in each school year are:
– Who we are
– Where we are in place and time
– How we express ourselves
– How the world works
– How we organise ourselves
– Sharing the planet
Units of inquiry authentically interweave ideas and skills from the relevant subject areas: language, social studies, mathematics, arts, science, personal, social and physical education. This approach encourages students to make their own connections between what they know and how it relates to the world around them.
